The Community Redevelopment Agency [CRA] is a government owned development company which is funded with taxpayer money to compete with private developers. The CRA, however, owns no shovels, no bull dozers, no hammers or nails. Instead, its construction is done by developers who meet the approval of City Hall politicians.
CRA’s mandate is to build, build, build. Finish one project, build another, etc. ad infinitum. Like JAWS, the CRA just keeps coming, devouring everything in its path. CRA takes more and more property off the property tax rolls, leaving less and less revenue for the City. In the last 7 years alone, CRA has consumed over One Billion Dollars of “incremental property tax revenue.”
Wake up! Don’t let your eyes glaze over. It’s your money they’re stealing. Yes, we all have to learn about “incremental pro-perty tax revenue” and other arcane matters in order to slay the beast.
